Constitution
Article 1 Charter
The Athabasca University Faculty Association (AUFA) is an association as defined by the Post-Secondary Learning Act of the Province of Alberta.
Article 2 Name
The name of the association is Athabasca University Faculty Association (AUFA).
Article 3 Objectives
The objectives of the association are:
3.1 To promote the welfare and professional interests of the members of the Association.
3.2 To promote academic and intellectual freedom within Athabasca University.
3.3 To act as the negotiating agent for and representative of the Association membership.
3.4 To foster fraternity among the members of the Association.
3.5 To cooperate with other bodies having common interests.
3.6 To promote the achievement of excellence in teaching, research, and the pursuit of education.
3.7 To promote and support postsecondary education in Alberta.
3.8 To do all such things as may, directly or indirectly, seem to be incidental, conducive, convenient or proper for the accomplishment of the purposes, or the attainment of the objectives of this Association, or expedient for the protection or benefit of its members.
Article 4 Governance and Operations
The governance and operations of the Association shall be specified in the Bylaws.
Article 5 Amendments
The Constitution of the Association can be amended by an extraordinary resolution passed by the members present at a regular or special meeting of the Association called in accordance with the definitions and procedures specified in the Bylaws.
